State payroll quick reference

The four wage-payment fields each state page on this site fills in — primary wage payment statute, final paycheck deadline, minimum wage, and overtime authority — side by side for all 50 states.

How this table is built. The statute, final-paycheck and overtime cells come from that state's own quick-reference table on its /state/<xx> page on this site; the minimum wage and overtime-authority columns come from the US Department of Labor Wage and Hour Division state minimum wage table dated July 1, 2026, cited below.

The Overtime authority column shows the state premium-pay rule of the same US Department of Labor Wage and Hour Division state minimum wage table (as of July 1, 2026) for the 31 states whose entry carries one, and "Federal FLSA only" for the 19 states whose entry carries none. A state premium-pay rule can be a daily-hours rule, a weekly threshold above 40 hours, a seventh-day rule, or a statutory rest-day premium, so read the cell itself rather than assuming a 40-hour week.
